Tory Lanez is breaking his silence in a rare on-camera interview from prison, marking the first time he has spoken publicly since being convicted and sentenced to 10 years. In a conversation with NBC News, the rapper reflected on his current reality, his legal battle, and how incarceration has reshaped his perspective. While acknowledging personal growth, Lanez made it clear that his position on the case has not changed and that he continues to assert his innocence.

During the interview, Lanez repeatedly rejected the idea that he is capable of violence toward women.
“I’ve never been violent towards woman, I would never hit a woman. Let alone shoot a woman,” he said, emphasizing that this belief about him does not align with his character or history.
NBC News reported that Lanez’s attorneys have formally submitted requests seeking executive relief from California Governor Gavin Newsom, either through a pardon or a commutation. Both options are uncommon and granted sparingly, but the report noted that the current timeline leaves room for a possible decision before the year ends.
Lanez also claimed that substantial evidence has come to light since the conclusion of the trial. According to him, his goal is not public sympathy or preferential treatment, but a fair reassessment of information he says was never evaluated.
“I believe that not only was I wrongfully convicted, the amount of new evidence that has emerged since that trial has been overwhelming,” Lanez said.
Three years into his sentence, Lanez described prison as mentally and emotionally taxing. “
Truthfully, I’ve done my best to keep my head above water, but mentally I’ve gone through trauma that I sometimes struggle with,” he shared. He also revealed a violent incident behind bars, stating, “I was stabbed 17 times, I almost lost my life.”
He ended the interview by addressing public perception.
“There is definitely a very big misconception about me,” Lanez said, insisting that the image many have formed does not reflect his past or his record.
