Bone Thugs-N-Harmony finally got their Bone Thugs Walk of Fame moment, and all five of them were there to see it. On Wednesday, the Cleveland group received the 2,851st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, cementing a career that has spanned 35 years and reshaped how rap sounds today.
The ceremony took place at 6126 Hollywood Boulevard near Gower Street, in the Recording category, and it pulled out heavy names to co sign the moment. Radio icon Big Boy hosted, with Ice-T, Fat Joe, and Xzibit stepping up to speak. Ice-T made a point that hit different for a genre that has lost too many of its own, telling the crowd to applaud the fact that all Bone Thugs are alive, healthy, and there together. Standing on the ground of a Bone Thugs Walk of Fame ceremony, that landed as far more than a nice line.
All five original members were present for the honor: Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone. For a group that has weathered lineup changes, legal battles, and the usual internal tension across three decades, simply standing on that star together was its own statement. Big Boy called them veterans and relevant at the same time, which is exactly the lane they still occupy.
The road to the Bone Thugs Walk of Fame star started in Cleveland in 1991, when the group formed as B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e and performed at local talent shows. Their break came when Eazy-E of N.W.A heard their blend of rapid fire delivery and melodic harmonies and signed them to Ruthless Records in 1993. What they built from there changed the sound of hip hop. The style of singing and rapping in the same breath that they made famous is now everywhere, and they know it.
In a statement, the group called the honor a blessing beyond words, saying they never imagined that music made in Cleveland would touch so many lives around the world. They framed the star as belonging to their families, their city, and their fans as much as to them. Krayzie Bone took to Instagram with the same energy, telling fans the moment was bigger than the group and belonged to everyone who had been rocking with Bone since day one.
The résumé behind the Bone Thugs Walk of Fame star speaks for itself. Their 1994 EP Creepin on ah Come Up introduced the world to Thuggish Ruggish Bone and Foe tha Love of $. In 1995, E. 1999 Eternal debuted at number one and delivered Tha Crossroads, their tribute to Eazy-E after his death, which spent eight weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy for best rap performance by a duo or group in 1997. The Art of War followed in 1997 and also topped the chart. They remain the only rap group to record with Eazy-E, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Big Pun while all four were still alive, a piece of history no one else can claim.
What makes the Bone Thugs Walk of Fame star land so heavy is the influence, and the group did not shy away from naming it. Krayzie said you can hear them in almost everyone now, that anybody harmonizing and rapping fast is pulling from what Bone Thugs built. Flesh-n-Bone went further, pointing out that record labels once sent artists into the studio specifically to come back with something that sounded like Bone Thugs, and that the group rarely gets the flowers for it. The entire melodic rap wave that defines so much of the culture today runs straight back through their catalog, which is a big part of why this honor felt overdue to so many fans watching.
The timing could not be better for the group, either. The star comes as all five original members have reunited on new music over the past year, hinting at a real comeback, and it lands just two days before they hit the road. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony kick off a run of shows Friday at the Garden Amp in Garden Grove, and in August they join Wu-Tang Clan on The Final Chamber Tour. Flesh-n-Bone summed up where the group’s head is at, saying the best is yet to be seen.
For a group that came up out of Cleveland with no Hollywood ties, whose label was born in Compton rather than on these blocks, the Bone Thugs Walk of Fame star reads like overdue recognition finally catching up with reality. They were named the only hip hop group in the Walk of Fame Class of 2026, and after 35 years, three chart topping albums, a Grammy, and a sound the entire genre keeps borrowing from, they now hold a permanent place on the most famous sidewalk in the world.
