Issa soon-to-be wife!
Reality tv star Evelyn Lozada revealed Thursday that she’s engaged to Lavon Lewis, whom she met on Peacock’s Queens Court.
Lozada, 47, stars in the dating show that premiered this week alongside singers Tamar Braxton and Nivea. The three women take fans on their journey as they date 21 men vying to be their potential “kings”– and it looks like Evelyn found her match.
Lewis, a 42-year-old marketing firm co-founder, popped the question on Lozada’s birthday in December amongst close friends and family.
“The thing about Evelyn is, it is very hard to surprise her,” Lewis told PEOPLE, who broke the news Thursday. “I told her to pack her bags, we’re going somewhere. She was blindfolded until she got to the front door. She walked in to about 20 close friends and family and the big ‘marry me’ letters, roses on the ground, things like that.”
The Basketball Wives alum admitted she wasn’t expecting the proposal despite them previously discussing marriage.
“I didn’t know that he was going to propose that day,” Lozada says. “I didn’t know what I was walking into. He was being very sneaky and, in all honesty, I was a little irritated because I’m such an alpha female and I’m kind of like, why do I have to pack? Why do I have to do this? It was really, really difficult for me to just let go and allow him to do his thing.”
Lozada and Lewis met on episode two of Queens Court and hit it off, but the mother of two worried that living in separate states could be an obstacle in their relationship. Nevertheless, Lozada says, “Lavon has been very proactive of making sure he gets on a plane to come visit.” Lewis also shared that as soon as his 13-year-old son Jordan heads to high school, they plan to bring their family under one roof.
