New York police are searching for an 18-year-old male who they say fatally shot a young woman and wounded her fiancé two months ago.
On Friday, NYPD released a photo of Moussa Cisse as the suspect they are looking for in the death of Shadina Smith, 29. Cisse is accused of fatally shooting her in the chest three times on January 16, Herald-Mail Media reported.
Authorities also believe Cisse was the suspect who groped Smith shortly after she left her apartment on W. 140th Street. Following the incident, Smith rushed back inside her apartment building to get her fiancé.
The two went to confront the man, police say, and that is when Cisse pulled out his gun and shot at the two, striking Smith three times.
Smith, the mother of a 2-year-old boy, died at the hospital. Her fiancé was wounded in the chest and arm during the shooting but survived his injuries.
“She was very invested in her son and his future,” Corine Booker, Smith’s aunt, said at the time of Smith’s death. “I hate that he won’t be able to know how wonderful and how resilient she was. We just want to make sure to give him all that love.”
