Human remains located earlier this month in a wooded area in Alabama have now been identified as those of missing Jacksonville five year old, Taylor Rose Williams.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced the latest development on Monday. Her mother, 27-year-old Brianna Williams, who is a petty officer first class in the U.S. Navy, stopped cooperating early on in the investigation. She attempted suicide just weeks ago after it was revealed that human remains were found on November 12th near Demopolis, Alabama, during a search for her daughter. Since then, Williams has been charged with two counts of child neglect and giving false information to investigators, although additional charges are expected.
Neighbors told investigators that they observed Taylor Rose alone in the apartment, where she lived with her mother on at least two occasions. Another former neighbor also claimed that Williams told him that she was taking her daughter to Alabama to be with her grandparents. However, the grandparents have disputed this claim, alleging that they have not seen Taylor in over a year.
Investigators have yet to comment on the condition of the remains nor what led them to search the area where the remains were located. Williams is scheduled to appear in court on December 4th.
