A shocking murder-suicide in Texas has left authorities and loved ones searching for answers. So far, all they have to go on is a cryptic Facebook post and a disturbing 911 call.

45-year-old Army veteran James Olivares posted “I’m sorry” on Facebook before shooting his wife, 45-year-old Brandy Evett Olivares, and his 18-year-old stepdaughter, Sicilian Italease Ire Williams last Tuesday in Irving, Texas. He also killed the family’s two dogs before turning the gun on himself. The couple married in 2010.

According to Irving Police Officer Robert Reeves, Brandy phoned 911 that morning. During the call that came in around 11:15 a.m., she pretended to be on the phone with her brother as she seemingly tried to give off clues to the dispatcher that she was in danger.

“The person was stressed,” Reeves said during a press conference. “Was talking in a very low volume. Was trying to talk in a code to the dispatcher, and they weren’t necessarily picking up on that conversation that was being said. They could understand they said something about a brother and they were calling 911. So, they just went ahead and did their task of trying to get someone out there very quickly.”

Once officers arrived at the home, James called out to officers, demanding that they provide a negotiator. Before this could be arranged, he shot himself.

As of now, authorities do not have a motive in the case.
