Vice President Mike Pence will attend the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, insiders told CNBC.
Pence’s decision to attend Biden’s swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 20th is yet another indication that his ties to Donald Trump are deeply affected after last Wednesday’s riots at the Capitol.
Trump already announced he would not attend the inauguration, in a move that seemed to completely undercut his previous message that urged the country to move towards “healing and reconciliation.”
Biden called Trump’s decision to skip his inauguration, “one of the few things we have ever agreed on.” He also said that Pence would be welcomed to attend, saying he would be “honored to have him there and to move forward in the transition.”
