Rod Wave was arrested by Atlanta police on Friday, facing four charges including reckless driving, possession of a firearm or knife during a felony, and possession of controlled substances. He remains in custody while awaiting his next court date.
Adding to the unusual timing, Wave earned his first Grammy nomination the same day. The nomination is for Best Song Written for Visual Media for the movie Sinners.
His lawyer, Drew Findling, confirmed that he has appeared in court and was granted $8,000 bail. The legal team insists Wave did not commit any wrongdoing.
Wave’s legal history stretches back several years. In 2021, he faced a battery charge, followed by an outstanding strangulation charge in Florida in 2022. In May 2025, he was arrested on 14 charges including aggravated assault and pointing a gun at another person, though his attorneys argued he was the victim. A month later, he was booked again for a separate battery case in Fulton County.
