Grammy-winning producer Swizz Beatz is once again facing serious tax trouble after new records revealed millions of dollars in unpaid federal taxes tied to his personal income.
According to city finance filings, the Bronx-born music producer, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, currently owes more than $5.7 million in federal tax debt dating back to 2022. The most recent lien was filed by the Internal Revenue Service in January 2026 for $1,242,984 in unpaid income taxes connected to his 2024 return.
That latest filing adds to previously recorded liens totaling $4,482,273 for the 2022 and 2023 tax years. In total, the outstanding claims bring Dean’s reported federal tax debt to $5,725,257.
His wife, Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys, is not listed on any of the liens.
The hip-hop producer, known for crafting major hits for artists such as DMX, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé, has faced tax-related issues before. Beginning in 2008, Dean and his former wife, Mashonda Tifrere, accumulated several federal tax liens in New York, Georgia, and California.
By mid-2012, those claims had reportedly grown to approximately $2.6 million, along with a separate $98,246 lien for unpaid New York state taxes. However, his representatives later provided documentation to TMZ showing the debts had been cleared.
Dean encountered another tax setback in 2016 when he paid $655,785 to the IRS after falling behind on taxes owed for 2009, 2014, and 2015.
Despite the financial disputes, Dean has continued pursuing business ventures outside of music. The producer has reportedly invested heavily in camel racing in Saudi Arabia, purchasing more than 50 racing camels for his team called “Saudi Bronx,” which competes in high-profile races across the Middle East.
Dean’s business manager, Jeffrey Feinman, said the current tax issue is “old news,” adding that “there are certain issues under dispute,” and that Dean is “working towards resolving it.”
